Vacation vent
Alright, I get 10 vacation days each year right now. With my little son, I save some of those vacation days for when daycare is closed but my office isn’t - typically during the holidays. This year, his daycare is closed Thanksgiving Day and the day after, and Dec 24, 25, and 26. My office is closed Thanksgiving day and Christmas day, but none of the days before or after. I saved 3 days to use during this time. My boss made an announcement that, to be fair, if we all should only take either the day after Thanksgiving or the day before Christmas, but not both. Now, we have no big huge plans for the holidays or anything; I just have daycare issues. I understand that it might not be fair for some people to get both of those 4 (or 5) day weekends. But, I saved my days for this. It’s not like I’m being a vacation hog. I didn’t take a week long vacation during the summer like everyone else. I took a day here and a day there. I saved my days so that I could work around my daycare. I don’t really think it’s fair to me. But, I’m doing it. I’m taking off the day before Thanksgiving to prepare for the festivities and hopefully hubby can stay home the day after. Either that or I’m bringing the child to work!!
